The Indian Government is paying close attention to the advantages of harnessing the power of the sun to produce cheap electricity for the masses. The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) SECI has released Rs.54.93crs to respective states for solar parks. The total number of approved solar parks has risen to 33 in 21 states and these have an aggregate capacity of 19,900 MW. The total sanctioned amount is Rs.374crs.
The Power and New and Renewable Energy Minister have informed that India has initiated the world’s largest renewable energy program. This is through increasing the existing 3500MW capacity by five times to reach 175GW by the year 2022.
